The (Anglo)Saxons are coming.....well they're here actually.
Some time ago I discovered the joy of Audiobooks. I spend a lot of time in the car travelling to and from work as well as for work it's self and Audiobooks are far, far better than listening to the inane drivel that passes for radio. I had read the earlier books of Bernard Cornwell's Saxon series, which is based around Alfred the Great and the Viking invasion, and had started listening to the later books on audio. This inspired me to a new Saga faction - the Anglo-Saxons.
But instead of buying an off the shelf 4point warband I headed to the Gripping Beast and ordered myself some of their "Late Saxon/German figures. In particular I liked " Penda, the last Pagan Saxon King" miniature set and so plumed for him as my Warlord. Then it was down to the local game shop where I picked up some GB plastic Saxon Thegns & some Dark Age Warriors.
